Background
I grew up in Greenwich, London, where spending time around the Royal Observatory first got me interested in astronomy and physics. In 2022, at the age of 14, I moved to Beijing to begin my undergraduate studies in the Department of Physics at Tsinghua University.
Research & Thesis
I'm currently in my fourth year, working on my bachelor's thesis in Prof. Xiao Zhigang's experimental nuclear physics group. My research focuses on developing plastic scintillator detector arrays and conducting Geant4 Monte Carlo simulations for polarized deuteron breakup experiments, aiming to probe the nuclear symmetry energy under extreme conditions.
Running
Outside coursework and the lab, I run for Tsinghua's middle- and long-distance athletics team (Team Two) and serve as vice president and pacer for the Tsinghua Running Association. I primarily train for middle-distance track and road events (1500m to 10k), with recent personal bests of 4:25.93 in the 1500m and 9:58 in the 3k. Other Interests
I play fast chess (~1300 blitz on chess.com, usually the Scotch Gambit) and follow computer chess engine developments. I'm also interested in machine learning and small-scale language model architecture experiments (NeonBench), tracking frontier LLM releases, and exploring pretraining dynamics.
